Breitenwaida is a village in Lower Austria , a cadastral community and part of the city of Hollabrunn in the district of the same name .

The cadastral community of Breitenwaida is located about four kilometers south of Hollabrunn and 41 kilometers from Vienna . The Göllersbach , a left tributary of the Danube, flows through the village . Neighboring towns are Dietersdorf in the north, Kleedorf in the southwest and Großstelzendorf in the market town of Göllersdorf in the southeast.
history
Breitenwaida was first mentioned in 1164, when a Tiemo de Preitenwidae is mentioned as a witness to a donation. Until the 19th century, the place belonged to the dominion of Sonnberg at Schloss Sonnberg . From 1850 to 1970 the place was an independent local community, in 1971 the place was combined with the neighboring towns of Kleedorf and Puch to form the large community of Breitenwaida. On January 1, 1972, Breitenwaida was incorporated into Hollabrunn. In 2010 the new elementary school was opened in Breitenwaida.
church
A parish existed in Breitenwaida at the latest from the Reformation . The Evangelical Lutheran parish had its own pastor until 1632, after which the parish to Hollabrunn took place . In 1784 the parish of Breitenwaida was re-established, which from then on was also responsible for the places Kleedorf and Puch. Due to the responsibility for two other places, the old church, which was often damaged by floods due to its location on the Göllersbach , became too small. Therefore, from 1818 onwards, a new church building in the classical style was built in a higher location, which was completed and consecrated in 1823. In 1973 a small chapel in honor of St. Hubert was built on the edge of the forest .
traffic
Breitenwaida has a stop on the Nordwestbahn and has been connected to the Vienna S-Bahn network via the S3 line since 1979 .
