Brezel Brass is a German music group from the Vogtland area (in the border triangle Bavaria - Bohemia - Saxony ), which was founded in 2011 from the band "Die 3 swingenden 4".

Band history

Sebastian Wildgrube and Michael Seidel had the idea for Brezel Brass during a jam session when they mixed the polka "Rosamunde" with elements from jazz and swing . Both played music at that time already in the Dixieland - Combo "The three swinging 4" together. Since their new idea did not fit into the style of the existing group, they brought in Michael's brother Robert Seidel, Julia Uebel and Susanne Pötzsch and founded “Brezel Brass”. The choice of members was no coincidence, because all five passed their Abitur at the Markneukirchen grammar school . Here they visited the musical profile and took part in the high school's musical productions , for which Wildgrube is still active as an arranger and musician. Everyone also learned their instrument at the local music school.

What was initially intended as a fun pastime developed faster than expected. After about 40 appearances in 2011, the year it was founded, Brezel Brass played around 60 concerts in the following year, over 70 each in 2013 and 2014. In these years the band also appeared for the first time in television shows and broadcasts, primarily on MDR . Together with Stefanie Hertel they were on stage for a Christmas and anniversary show. The band made recordings with her for their Christmas CD and the Spruce trees also worked with Brezel Brass.

Music genre

Brezel Brass mix elements of traditional Bohemian polka with jazz and rock 'n' roll elements. They describe their style as "Bohemian Boogie". In their songs they traditionally combine folk pieces by Ernst Mosch or Slavko Avsenik with jazz standards by Benny Goodman or Glenn Miller .
