Brian Kennedy Conacher (born August 31, 1941 in Toronto Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player , coach and functionary who worked for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League from 1958 to 1976 as well as played the Ottawa Nationals in the World Hockey Association .
Career
Brian Conacher began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Toronto Marlboros , for which he was active from 1958 to 1962 in the Canadian junior league Ontario Hockey Association . In the 1961/62 season he also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs , for which he remained pointless and punished in his only season. He also played three games for their farm team Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League . He then attended the University of Western Ontario for a year , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the Ontario Universities Athletics Association . From 1963 to 1965 he took part with Team Canada in preparation for international tournaments. From 1965 to 1968 he was again for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL and their farm team Rochester Americans in the AHL on the ice. With the Toronto Maple Leafs he won the Stanley Cup in the 1966/67 season . He also appeared as the reigning champion with his team in the 1968 NHL All-Star Game .
From 1968 to 1971 Conacher again played numerous test matches for Team Canada. For the 1971/72 season he returned to the NHL, in which he scored three goals and an assist in 22 games for the Detroit Red Wings . At the same time, he played a total of 47 games in the Central Hockey League for their farm team Fort Worth Wings , scoring 31 points, including 16 goals. For the 1972/73 season , the Canadian was committed by the Ottawa Nationals from the newly formed World Hockey Association . For this he scored nine goals and 22 assists in a total of 74 games. From 1973 to 1975 he was the head coach of the Mohawk Valley Comets from the North American Hockey League . In the 1975/76 season he returned for three games even in the NAHL back on the ice before he was again head coach at the Mohawk Valley Comets in the middle of the season, with whom he failed in the first round of playoff.
From 1976 to 1978 Conacher was general manager for one year each at the Indianapolis Racers and Edmonton Oilers from the WHA. Later he was responsible for the operation of the ice hockey stadiums Copps Coliseum and Maple Leaf Gardens .
International
For Canada , Conacher took part in the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and the 1965 World Championships .

Brian Conacher comes from a family with a long tradition in ice hockey. His father Lionel Conacher and his uncles Charlie Conacher and Roy Conacher were just as professional ice hockey players as his cousin Pete Conacher .
