Brian Finnigan

Brian Vincent Finnigan (born August 2, 1938 in Port Fairy , Victoria , Australia ) is an Australian Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Brisbane .

Life

Brian Finnegan attended Toolong State School and St Patrick's College in Ballarat . He then studied from 1963 Catholic theology and philosophy at Corpus Christi College in Werribee and then from 1967 at Corpus Christi College in Glen Waverley . On 23 May 1970 he donated the Bishop of Ballarat , James Patrick O'Collins , the ordination . In 1977 he began graduate studies at the Catholic University of America , where he earned a master's degree in Church Administration . Moreover, followed from 1990 to 1991 postgraduate studies in canon law at Saint Paul University in Ottawa , where he developed the Licentiate and a Master degree in canon law earned.

On 31 January 2002 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Rapidum and auxiliary bishop in Brisbane. He was ordained episcopal on April 8th of that year by the Archbishop of Brisbane, John Alexius Bathersby ; Co- consecrators were Francesco Canalini , Apostolic Nuncio to Australia , and Francis Patrick Carroll , Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn .

Pope Benedict XVI also appointed him on May 2, 2011 as Apostolic Administrator of Toowoomba . He held this office until the inauguration of the new Bishop of Toowoomba on July 11, 2012.

On December 30, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
