Brian Michael Salcido (born April 14, 1985 in Hermosa Beach , California ) is an American ice hockey player who last played at ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Brian Salcido began his career as a hockey player on the Colorado College team , for which he was active from 2003 to 2006. During this time he was selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as a total of 141 players by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim .

After the defender had played for their then farm team from the American Hockey League , the Portland Pirates , from 2006 to 2008 , Salcido made his debut in the National Hockey League for the now in Anaheim on February 20, 2009 in a game with the Detroit Red Wings Ducks renamed team. A day later contributed his first template in the NHL in the game with the Columbus Blue Jackets . The native Californian spent the rest of the season at Anaheim's new AHL farm tean, the Iowa Chops .

In the 2009/10 season Salcido was used with the Manitoba Moose in AHL before moving to Europe in the summer of 2010. He was signed by HC Sparta Prague and played 23 games for Sparta in the Extraliga . In November of the same year, his contract was terminated and Salcido moved to SaiPa Lappeenranta in the SM-liiga , where he played until 2013.

In the 2013/14 season, the defensive player was initially under contract with Amur Khabarovsk in the Continental Hockey League , but was released in November 2013. In January 2014, the left shooter found a new club in JYP Jyväskylä , for which he was active until the end of the season. He then returned to SaiPa and completed there in the 2014/15 season with a total of 35 scorer points, his season with the highest points in Europe, which made him the most attacking defender in the league. In May 2015 Salcido moved to ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League , where he has been wearing jersey number 22 since the 2015/16 season .
