Brie is a commune Déléguée in the French community -et-Vallées Plaine with 171 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement Bressuire and the canton Le Val de Thouet (until 2015: canton Thouars-1 ). The inhabitants are called Briolais .

On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Brie merged with Oiron , Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes and Taizé-Maulais to form the Commune nouvelle Plaine-et-Vallées. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée.

location

Brie is located about twelve kilometers east-southeast of the center of Thouar on the Dive , which forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. Neighboring communities of Brie were Oiron in the north and west, Arçay in the northeast, Montcontour in the east and southeast and Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes in the south.
