Brigitte Maria Bertele
Brigitte Maria Bertele (born July 4, 1974 in Ulm ) is a German director and actress .
Life
From 1993 to 1997 Bertele studied acting at the Academy for Performing Arts in Ulm, during which she attended the Master Class for Camera Acting with Joanna Merlin in the Graduate Acting Department of New York University and at the International Master Class for Acting at the Russian Academy for Theater Arts participated in Moscow . From 1997 to 2002 she had permanent engagements as an actress at the theaters in Eisenach , Neustrelitz and Dresden .
In 2002 she began studying documentary film directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . For the documentary film Roaming Around , she followed the everyday life of street children in Ghana . Her first full-length feature film Nacht vor Augen , which has won numerous awards, was recognized for her diploma. It tells the story of a young Bundeswehr soldier who is traumatized and returns to civilian life from an Afghanistan mission. Her second feature film, Der Brand, about the consequences of a rape, was made like Night before Eyes based on a script by Johanna Stuttmann . Her television film Grenzgang, based on the novel by Stephan Thome , with Claudia Michelsen and Lars Eidinger in the leading roles, premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2013 and was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2014.
In addition to her directing work, she has been working as a freelance actress since 2002.
