background

After DCVDNS had published some videos on the video platform YouTube , the Berlin MC Basstard became aware of the rapper. The two hip-hop musicians then shot the video Mörderfurz , which appeared at the end of May 2011. At the same time, the Osnabrück-based distributor Distributionz announced that it would sell the debut album DCVDNS '. In the summer of 2011, MC Basstard signed DCVDNS on its newly founded label Dark Matter . DCVDNS recorded the album in Basstard's studio in Berlin within two weeks. At the beginning of 2012, the rapper's debut album, entitled Glasses , was announced for February 10, 2012. On February 8, 2012, DCVDNS celebrated the album release as part of a so-called “release party” in the Kleiner Klub in Saarbrücken . The publication was postponed at short notice by two weeks to February 24, 2012. DCVDNS justified the postponement with the release of the album Kanackiş von Haftbefehl on the originally planned release date.

According to the rapper, the lyrics of the album are characterized by his humor. Regardless of “ how serious the respective song ” is, “ definitely always [...] humor. “Some songs are stylistically and lyrically based on other hip-hop pieces. Mein Mercedes is similar to the song My Adidas by Run-DMC and ZDS is similar to the song LMS by Kool Savas . Furthermore, what's tweef? about a “ homage ” to What's Beef from The Notorious BIG and, in the case of tank tops & glasses, to T-shirt & jeans from the rapper gynecologist .

criticism

Musical rating

In a review by the German hip-hop magazine Juice, Brille received four out of a possible six “crowns”. The editor Jan Wehn explained in the evaluation that the album is not a “ crude parody of the aggro years and the simultaneous existence as an internet rapper ”. Operating the DCVDNS to as " G-Funk and Southern Rap the first hour " and Adapt " Suga Free - and BG-Knocc-out -Flows. “Wehn also praises the song Mein Mercedes as a“ wonderful Run DMC homage ”and the piece Here Everyone Can Dance as a“ Miami bass answer to Styles P. and Jadakiss . “Indecision is highlighted as the only weakness of the album. Songs like Interview with Yourself , in which “ criticism is anticipated ”, have a “ disarming character. “On the other hand, a profound piece like you don't worry as long as the Nutella doesn't taste like shit within the concept“ illogical ”. In summary, glassesrightly entered the charts. "

The backspin Hip Hop magazine rated glasses with three of a possible five points. Musically, the album is “ not a revelation. “DCVDNS live from the irony of its texts. The rap style, which is described as monotonous and makes it difficult for the listener to be able and willing to follow DCVDNS “ to the length of the album , is rated negatively . “In contrast, the contributions of the guest rappers are praised. The overall picture of the album is reminiscent of the first releases by Rhymin Simon . From the editorial point of view, the best pieces on the album are My Mercedes , What's Tweef? and glasses . In summary, think that " likeable, funny engaging image, created from the DCVDNS " have, with a new album " his skills [...] was not. "

The Austrian music medium The Gap awarded glasses eight out of a possible ten points . The fictional character DCVDNS breaks a “ lance for the serpentine glasses and the silly nerds of German rap. “The editor finds praise above all for the play with clichés and the parodies of the“ laws of a subculture that has taken itself far too seriously for a long time ”. In addition, like KIZ , DCVDNS understands his “ rap craft very well. “The well-known guest rappers and the“ synth-funk beats ”, which make the album varied, are positively highlighted.

The platform Rappers.in rated the album with four out of a possible six points. From the point of view of the editors, glasses are “an absolutely stylish disc with a lot of good tracks, but also a few downsides. “The song A Little Tourette is highlighted as the“ absolute highlight ”. Nevertheless, it is pointed out that the " vulgar humor ," the " poor rapeseed Kills Cartman ," the " be scratched voice onset " of DCVDNS and " the caricature of a neurological disease " not " everyone is". Interview with yourself convinced the editors through the use of Doubletime. In contrast, the piece falls. You don’t worry as long as the Nutella doesn’t taste like shit from " unusually loosing and unimportant ". A similarly negative point here can be any dancing whose contribution is criticized by a gynecologist. Boba Fettt and Justus, on the other hand, contribute “ appealing parts ”. Basstard and Tamas also fit in “ excellently into the wacky overall picture of the disc ”.

Reviews of other artists

The rapper Kool Savas expressed himself positively in several interviews about DCVDNS and his song Brille . In particular , Savas praised the concept of the song Brille , " bringing all people who wear glasses together " and rapping over their glasses, as " funny " and " entertaining ". Contrary to the expectations of many people, he is not upset about DCVDNS, as his role models such as Biz Markie made fun of certain aspects of hip-hop.
