The Brixner Hütte is a refuge in the Fundres Mountains , part of the Zillertal Alps in South Tyrol . It is located at the end of the Valler Valley on the Pfannealm at an altitude of 2307 m slm. It is owned by the Brixen section of the South Tyrol Alpine Association (AVS). The hut is on the Pfunderer Höhenweg .
Climbs
The usual ascent is from the south, through the upper Valler valley via the alpine village of Fane ( 1735 m ), first through the Schramme , a gorge of the Valler Bach. Then it goes north over meadows up to the Brixner hut.
From the north, from the Pfitscher valley , the hut can also be reached via the Sandjoch ( 2842 m ).
Tour possibilities
The hut is the starting point for ascents of the Wilden Kreuzspitze (3132 m) and the Wurmaulspitze (3022 m).
The closest huts on the Pfunderer Höhenweg are the Sterzinger Hütte or, alternatively, the Simile-Mahd-Alm in the west and the Walter-Brenninger-Bivouac or the Edelrauthütte in the east. The Hochfeilerhütte can also be reached from this hut via the Steinkar and Gliederscharte .
history
The construction of a hut in this area was first suggested in 1908 by the geologist Raimund von Klebelsberg . Shortly afterwards, the Brixen section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club acquired an abandoned hunting lodge, which was converted into the first refuge at this point and opened on July 18, 1909. This was a small, unmanaged self-catering hut. The hut was expanded for the first time in 1911. In 1923 the Italian state expropriated the building and handed it over to the Brixen section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI). He operated the shelter until the Second World War , after which it fell into disrepair. The new hut built by the AVS was opened on September 2, 1973.
