Bronów ( German Braunau , Braune or Braun ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Czechowice-Dziedzice in the Powiat Bielski of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .
geography
Bronów is located in the Auschwitz Basin ( Kotlina Oświęcimska ), about 10 km northwest of Bielsko-Biała and 40 km south of Katowice in the Powiat (district) Bielsko-Biała.
The village has an area of 600 ha .
Neighboring towns are Zabrzeg in the northwest, Ligota in the east, Międzyrzecze Dolne in the southeast, Rudzica in the southwest, Landek in the west.
history
The village is located in the Olsa area (also Teschener Silesia , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).
The place was first mentioned in a document as Braune around 1566 . The name is derived from the German first name Bruno .
Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the fiefdom of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Habsburg Monarchy .
After the abolition of patrimonial it was from 1850 a municipality in Austrian Silesia , district and judicial district Bielitz . In the years 1880 to 1910 the population increased from 731 in 1880 to 749 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 98.1% and 100%) and German speakers (14 or 1.9% in 1880). In 1910 92.9% were Roman Catholics, 6.4% were Protestants, there were five Jews.
A Catholic church was built between 1874 and 1877. The Roman Catholic parish was established in 1900.
In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Bronów became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Bronów was part of the Katowice Voivodeship .
