Broszkowice (originally Zbroszkowice, German  Broschkowitz ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the rural community Oświęcim in the powiat Oświęcimski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland .

Broszkowice is located in the Auschwitz Basin ( Kotlina Oświęcimska ) between the Vistula and Soła .

Neighboring towns are Bobrek in the northeast, the city of Oświęcim in the south, and Babice in the west.

history

The place was mentioned in a document as Zbroschkowice in 1427 . Since then it has belonged to the Dominicans in Oświęcim. Politically he belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , under feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . In 1457 the place was bought by Poland and mentioned as Sbroszkowicze .

During the first partition of Poland , Broszkowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Broszkowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Broszkowice belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
