biography
In the mid-1980s David White (guitar) and his younger brother Francis, called Eg, (bass, drum computer) founded the band Brother Beyond together with Carl Fysh (keyboard) . A short time later, the singer Nathan Moore was added. In 1986 the song I Should Have Lied , which was written by Fysh and Eg White, was the first single . The producer was the American musician Don Was .
The second single How Many Times , again written by Fish and Eg White, made it into the English charts in April 1987 and reached number 62. Chain gang Smile followed in August of that year . The song, produced by Richard James Burgess , made it to number 57 on the UK charts. In early 1987 Eg White left the group to continue his career as a musician, producer and songwriter . Steve Alexander joined Brother Beyond as a drummer.
After the band of Stock Aitken Waterman under contract was taken, was in the PWL studios the single Can You Keep a Secret? which was to become the quartet's greatest success by then . The song entered the UK singles chart in January 1988 and narrowly missed the top 20 at number 22. The group reached the peak of their career with The Harder I Try , a track written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. The single climbed to number two in the UK, number 13 in Switzerland and number 32 in Germany in the summer .
The successor He Ain't No Competition was similarly successful and at the end of the year was 6th in the United Kingdom and 39th in Germany. The debut album Get Even followed in November , which rose to number 9 on the UK charts. The Be My Twin contained on it and released at the end of 1988 made it to number 14 in England and number 53 in Germany in early 1989.
After a break of several months, I took part in the Spirit of the Forest project, which was dedicated to protecting the rainforest . Together with artists such as Olivia Newton-John , Taylor Dayne , Donna Summer , Chris Rea , David Gilmour and others, the single Spirit of the Forest was created , which was released in England in June 1989.
From autumn 1989 the Brother Beyond singles Drive On , When Will I See You Again and Trust appeared , which made it into the UK charts, but had to be content with middle positions. The accompanying album Trust was also released at the end of the year, but did not go beyond number 60 on the English album chart. The band's last chart success was the single The Girl I Used to Know , which only reached number 48 at home in June 1990, but at the same time became the first and only hit in the USA and climbed to number 27 on the Billboard charts .
In the fall of 1990, Brother Beyond broke up after the US single Just a Heartbeat , which was released in September, flopped. Moore continued his music career three years later as a member of the boy group Worlds Apart and switched to music management after it ended .
