Bruce Surtees

Bruce Surtees (born July 23, 1937 in Los Angeles , California - † February 23, 2012 in Carmel , California) was an American cameraman .

Life

Bruce Surtees, son of the cameraman and Oscar winner Robert Surtees , worked for several years as an animation cameraman for the Disney group after completing his training at the Art Center School in Los Angeles , then as a camera assistant for his father's films. As chief cameraman from 1970, he mainly photographed numerous films with Clint Eastwood . Only occasionally, such as In the case of the film Ketten aus Gold , for example , Surtees was recognized by the critics as having an image design that went beyond routine craftsmanship (“... only photographically above average”). He was nominated for an Oscar for his work (in black and white) on Lenny .

Surtees died on February 23, 2012 as a result of complications from his diabetes .
