Brumado , officially Municipio de Brumado , is a medium- sized town in the state of Bahia in Brazil in the Nordeste region . According to an estimate by the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics ( IBGE ), Brumado has 67,195 inhabitants (as of July 1, 2019), who are called Brumadenses (Portuguese: brumadenses ).

The city's Human Development Index (HDI) has a mean value of 0.656. The city is known as the Capital do Minério (Mining Capital ) for the many minerals in the soil that are the basis of its economy and its large mining companies.

Brumado is 555 km away from the state capital Salvador da Bahia . The area is 2,207.612 square kilometers. The core city takes up an area of ​​2174 square kilometers and lies at an altitude of 454 meters. Brumado is located on the BA-262, BA-148 and the BR-030 federal road, making it a major traffic junction. In addition, the city is connected to the Brazilian railway network via a line from Ferrovia Centro Atlântica .
