Bruno Huebner (born January 28, 1961 in Mainz-Kastel ) is a German sports official and former soccer player . Since May 2011 he has been sports director at Eintracht Frankfurt .

Career

As a player

Hübner began his playing career with the then still underclass FVgg. Kastel 06 . In 1981 he moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga . For Kaiserslautern he played 76 times in the Bundesliga, eight times in the UEFA Cup and three times in the DFB Cup in five years .

Hübner made his professional debut on August 8, 1981, the first day of the 1981/82 season , in a 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt . In his sixth outing, he scored his first goal in a 4-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld . One of his career highlights is likely to have been his appearance in the quarter-final first leg of the 1981/82 UEFA Cup against Real Madrid . In the first year he was still a regular player with 23 games (three goals) and was part of the fact that the FCK finished the season in fourth place in the table, he came in the 1982/83 season to only six appearances in which he scored two goals . In his most successful season 1983/84 he scored ten times in 20 games and in the following season 1984/85 he was successful in 27 games four times. After he was not used in the 1985/86 season due to injury, he ended his professional career in 1986 at the age of 25 and moved back to his home club SV Wehen in the district class . There he accompanied the promotion to the state league. In the regional league, Hübner was the top scorer.

As a functionary

After hanging up his football boots, he worked at SV Wehen, among other things, as a trainer and honorary vice-president until he was introduced as the new manager of the regional league in 2004. In addition to the sporting matters, he also looked for sponsors and improved the association's image. In 2007 he led contractions to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time , but before the start of the 2007/08 season he had to leave the club after a total of 21 years after differences with the executive committee.

During the winter break of the 2007/08 season , Huebner became sports director of the former Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg and was relegated to the 2nd division with MSV. After reaching the cup final in 2011 , he dissolved his contract in Duisburg in May 2011 in order to move to Eintracht Frankfurt , who had previously been relegated from the Bundesliga, in the same function .

Others

During his career as an amateur player, the trained industrial clerk initially worked for 18 years in the company Brita founded by the SV-Wehen president . His sons Benjamin ( TSG 1899 Hoffenheim ), Christopher ( SV Wiesbaden ) and Florian ( 1. FC Union Berlin ) also play soccer. Today, Hübner lives with his family in the Hessian Taunusstein .
