Bruno Fischer (sculptor)
Bruno Hermann Fischer (born April 30, 1860 in Dresden ; † March 24, 1932 there ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Bruno Fischer was the son of the Dresden lithographer , painter and draftsman Ernst Fischer († 1916), whose father was in turn a porcelain painter . Ernst Fischer studied at the Dresden Art Academy from 1866 to 1869 and worked in Ludwig Richter 's studio from 1873 to 1880 .
Bruno Fischer received his first artistic training at the Dresden and Coburg Schools of Applied Arts . From 1880 to 1881 he studied at the Stuttgart Art Academy and was a master student of Adolf Donndorf. From 1881 to 1890 he studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Johannes Schilling and was also a master student here. In 1889 Bruno Fischer received a two-year travel grant for his plaster sculpture “Adam and Eve”. From 1894 to 1896 he stayed in Italy, particularly Florence and Rome . He received the title of professor from the Dresden Art Academy in 1913 and also worked there for some time.
He lived in the Villa Elbblick ( Körnerweg 16) and most recently at Behrischstraße 13 in Dresden-Striesen . His studio was located at Tolkewitzer Straße 8 to 10 and was destroyed by the bombing raids in 1945 .

- 1893: Saxonia Fountain in Chemnitz, west side of the Roßmarkt, symbolizes the industrial diligence of the citizens of this city with the figures of mechanical engineering and textile industry , melted down in 1942, restored in 2013
- 1896: Fountain of Justice on Holbeinplatz in Dresden, destroyed in 1945
- 1902: Building sculpture made of sandstone at the Landwirtschaftliche Kreditverein , Prager Strasse 43 in Dresden, destroyed in 1945
- 1902: Bronze portrait relief of the composer Johann Gottlieb Naumann at the Blasewitz town hall , destroyed in 1945
- 1906: High relief Saxonia sitting in front of the reclining lion made of sandstone on the Ständehaus , gable Augustusstraße in Dresden
- 1905: Statue of King Albert , market fountain in Pirna , no longer available since 1945
- 1906: Crucifix on the altar with two kneeling children 's figures made of sandstone, Ehrlichsche Gestiftskirche Dresden, destroyed in 1945
- 1908: Figure group science and mechanical industry , lighting industry on the roof balustrades at the New Town Hall and Gewandhausstrasse, Dresden, destroyed in 1945
- 1908: Nymph fountain "The Bathers" , Bürgerwiese , Dresden
- 1910–12: Figures on the town hall tower in Dresden . The larger than life sandstone figures symbolize the 16 virtues.
