The city is located in the west of Rensselaer County in the Hudson Valley , just east of the city of Troy . Brunswick has an area of ​​115.6 km², of which only 0.3 km² is water. To the south it borders on the Towns of North Greenbush and Poestenkill . Neighboring to the east is the Town of Grafton .
