The Bubenheimer Berg (alternatively also called Hoher Stein ) near Bubenheim , a district of Treuchtlingen ( Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district ), is 476.4  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Franconian Alb low mountain range .

geography

location

The elongated mountain is located in the Altmühltal Nature Park not far north of the Altmühl . The eponymous place Bubenheim stretches around the mountain along the Altmühltal . A sub-peak to the east reaches a height of 460.7  m above sea level. NHN . To the northeast of the mountain is Hagenau , a few kilometers southeast of the village of Graben . The mountain is located in a nature reserve . The Vielsteine resting place on the mountain (476 meters above sea level) offers a wide panoramic view. Along the mountain there are several prehistoric settlements as well as an early modern ski jump of the Weißenburg line , which were included as ground monuments in the Bavarian list of monuments by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

There are two trigonometric points on the summit and east of the summit .

Natural allocation

The Bubenheimer Berg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Treuchtlinger Pforte (082.21).

geology

15 million year old types of rock from the Ries ejection (meteorite impact) can be found on the mountain . On the top of the Bubenheimer Berg, malm , mass limestone and dolomite clods form hardnesses of up to several cubic meters in size.

Geotope

The mountain top is designated as a valuable geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment under the number 577R009.
