from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Budiwoj von Krumau (also Budiwoj von Krumau, Skalitz and Sepekau ; Czech Budivoj z Krumlova ; also Budivoj z Krumlova, ze Skalice a ze Sepekova ; * before 1220, † after 1272) was in the service of the Bohemian kings Wenceslaus I and Ottokar II. Přemysl . He came from the Witigon family branch of the Lords of Krumau .

Life

Budiwoj von Krumau is documented for the years 1220 to 1272. His father Zawisch von Nechanitz held the office of Bohemian Chamberlain from 1233 to 1236. Budivoy and his brother Witiko are also recorded at the royal court for these years . Presumably because of a dispute between the Bohemian king and Emperor Friedrich II over the inheritance of the Babenbergs , the Witigones had to leave the royal palace temporarily. They did not return until after 1242.

From Budiwoj, who in 1260–1266 had the addition of "von Skalitz" ( ze Skalice ) and then "von Sepakau" ( ze Sepekova ), numerous documents have been received that were initiated by him or in which he, mostly together with his brother Witiko, appeared as a witness:

  • On June 1, 1259, "Budiwoj de Krumbenowe" gave the newly founded Hohenfurt monastery its share of a forest that was later referred to as the monastery forest.
  • In 1260 he is listed as a witness together with his brother Witiko in a document with which Wok von Rosenberg renews his foundation of the Hohenfurth monastery ("Dominus Budewoy et dominis Witigo de Krummenowe frater suus").
  • In the same year he testified as "Budiwoy de Zcaliz" a document with which Queen Margarete gave the county of Raab to the Wok von Rosenberg as a fief .
  • On May 28, 1261, Wok von Rosenberg in Graz renewed the donations made to Hohenfurt Abbey. Again among the witnesses were "Dominus Budewoy et dominis Witigo de Krummenowe".
  • When King Ottokar II. Přemysl certified an exchange of goods with Stiro von Wetkowitz on May 12, 1264, "Budiwoi de Scharitz" and "Witigo de Crumnov" appeared as witnesses.
  • With a certificate issued in Passau in 1264 , “Budiwoy v. Skalitz ”and his wife Perchta gave Schlägl Abbey the village of Schintau ( Schindlau ). Among the witnesses were Budivoy's brother "Witigo de Chrumnav" and "Pilgrimus de Valchenstein".
  • When Witigo von Skalitz and Hojer von Wittingau renounced their rights in Walkersdorf in favor of the Zwettl Monastery in place of their sisters on May 25, 1265, the brothers "Budiboy de Zcalicz" and "Witigo de Chrumenow" were among the witnesses. On the same day they testified to a certificate from Ludmila von Reusch, with which she sold the interest from Walkersdorf to Zwettl Abbey.
  • When on June 26, 1266 in Zwettl Čeč von Weleschin, with the consent of his wife Gisela von Kuenring, the village of Reinprechts was handed over to the Cistercian monastery of Zwettl. Among the witnesses were again “Bodiboe de Scalicz” and “Witigo de Chrumnawe”.

Individual evidence

  1. This Skalitz is probably identical to the later Sepekov. Originally the landlords called themselves "von Skalitz" ( ze Skalice ) after a neighboring hill that was first settled.
