The village of Buffenhofen is a suburb of the city of Meßkirch in the district of Sigmaringen ( Baden-Württemberg ). Buffenhofen is located in the so-called "Täle" on the Ringgenbach , which flows north into the Ablach .

history

The village was first mentioned as Buffenhoven in a deed of donation from Truchsessen Berthold von Rohrdorf in 1253 . The basic and feudal rights to Buffenhofen belonged in the 13th century to the Truchsessen von Waldburg-Rohrdorf.

Buffenhofen belonged to the monastic territory of the Cistercian convent Wald and came to the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen only after its abolition in 1806 .

As early as the second half of the 18th century, the village was assigned to the former municipality of Dietershofen and together with it in 1975 it was incorporated into Meßkirch.

At the southern edge of the village is the Buffenhofer Weiher , a fishing lake with a public barbecue area.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the 19th century there was a mill in Buffenhofen. In the 20th century there was still a large carpenter's shop in the village.

Infrastructure

Dietershofen and Buffenhofen were only connected to the surface sewer system in 2008.

The small street village is located on the K 8237 district road, which is also the through-town. Local public transport is served by the roundabout operation, which is part of the Neckar-Alb-Danube transport association (NALDO).

Sons and daughters of the district

  • Anton Gabele (1890–1966), folk writer and recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit. A memorial stone on the house where he was born, the former "Gasthaus zur Sonne", commemorates him.
