course

Spring streams

The Ringgenbach runs at the Allmannshofen settlement in the village of Walbertsweiler in the municipality of Wald from the two longer source streams Rohrenbach (from the right) and Rickenbach (from the left) and immediately afterwards two shorter source streams converge.

The longest source brook Rohrenbach flows at about 659  m above sea level. NHN from the wooded Langenmoos just south of the Walbertsweiler sports field and drains its northern part to the north; In the larger southern part of the moor, the eastward-running Burraubach arises , which ultimately also drains into the Ablach via Kehlbach and Andelsbach . The Rickenbach , which is roughly the same size, runs to the Rohrenbach after about 3 km from the left and is 2.4 km long, rises at about 655  m above sea level. NHN also a moor and forest area called Riedle . After this, a smaller spring stream of around 1.5 km in length soon runs towards each side, with the last one forming the Ringgenbach .

Ringgenbach

Like its two larger source streams, the Ringgenbach runs northwards quite steadily. It very soon passes over to the Dietershofen district of Meßkirch , whereupon its longest inflow reaches Rengetsweiler Graben from the southeast and in it it passes through the village of Dietershofen and the hamlet of Buffenhofen . Then he changes to the subsequent district marking of Ringgenbach , which he also crosses. This is where his last, about one-kilometer northeast section of the river begins, at the end of which it rises to about 591  m above sea level. NHN opposite the Menninger Bruckwiesen below the village and before Krauchenwies - Göggingen flows into the middle Ablach . The valley of the Ringgenbach from Allmannshofen up to and including the village of Ringgenbach is called "Taele".

Catchment area

The Ringgenbach drains 21.0 km², which from a natural point of view belong to the Andelsbach plates sub-area of the Danube-Ablach plates . Its approximately spindle-shaped catchment area extends from south to north a good 7 km, across it it is a little over 4 km wide at the thickest point. In it the large source streams run closer to the western, the lower reaches closer to the eastern watershed.

Beyond the northeastern watershed, the rather short Lautenbach drains northwards into the downward Ablach, beyond the southeastern one the Riedelbach and above all the Burraubach eastwards to the Kehlbach , which then also reaches the Ablach via the Andelsbach underflow. In the southwest, the catchment area of the Auenbach borders briefly , which runs northwest to the Ablach upper course, which in turn runs parallel to the Ringgenbach valley axis less than five kilometers west of it. The Ablach itself is therefore the main competitor on the other side of the Scheidenkamm in the west and - in the area of its right-hand bend near Meßkirch - in the northwest, only the Aspenbach , which also pulls northwest to this, is a reasonably important direct competitor of the Ringgenbach.

The highest point in the catchment area is on the southeastern watershed above the source of the long middle course tributary Rengetsweiler Graben at 676  m above sea level. NHN . Several times in its course heights over 660  m above sea level are reached. Reached NHN .

About a third of the catchment area on the west side are wooded slopes, and there are significantly smaller shares in the north-east and south-east. Around the axis of the valley, apart from the only right-hand waldenge near Buffenhofen, there is a wide strip of open corridor everywhere. There are land bridges to the east to the Riedelbach and especially to the south to the Burraubach.
