Economy and Infrastructure
The coal mines, which in their prime produced around 600,000 tons of coal, were closed in the 1990s. Since then, the town's most important company has been a machine factory for oil and gas equipment, which was opened in 1972. There are also companies in the construction industry (precast concrete parts), transport and the food industry.
A freight connecting line leads from the settlement to the Bulanasch station about 8 km to the west on the Serow - or Nizhny Tagil - Alapayevsk - Bogdanovich railway line, which opened on this section in 1918 and electrified since 1967 (189 km from Nizhny Tagil). Road connection is via Artjomowski.
