Bulgarian ski jumpers took part in the World Cup for the first time at the opening competition of the 1979/80 Four Hills Tournament. Valentin Boischov was 83rd, Angel Stojanow 95th, Peter Dimitrov 99th and Wladimir Brejtschew 102. After many other international competitions by Bulgarian ski jumpers, Vladimir Brejchev scored three World Cup points on January 14, 1984 in Harrachov as 13th. However, only 15 jumpers took part in this competition. With these 3 points, he finished 69th overall. For Bulgaria it was the 16th place in the national ranking.
Successes (1987-1992)
It was not until the 1987/1988 season that Bulgaria achieved World Cup points again, again through Vladimir Brejchev. With two points, he finished 71st overall. Also in the next season only Brejtschew could achieve World Cup points. The 1989/1990 season was Bulgaria's most successful season for over 20 years: Brejchev scored 23 World Cup points and came in 34th overall in the World Cup. Also Zahari Sotirow scored 6 points and finished at the end of the 48th place. At the beginning of 1992 in Predazzo Bulgaria took part in a team competition, but only finished 13th and last. After this season, Brejchev and Sotirow ended their careers.
Complete immersion (1992-2007)
Between 1992 and 2007 the Bulgarian national ski jumping team disappeared completely into oblivion.
Wladimir Sografski's successes (since 2007)
Managed only in December 2008 in Pragelato with Vladimir Zografski a Bulgarian again qualifying for a World Cup competition, finishing in 43rd place. In Klingenthal he again qualified for a world cup competition. In the summer of 2009 Sografski was able to qualify for three competitions, but remained without points. He also qualified several times in winter , but here too he was unable to reach the second round. For the first time this winter Bogomil Pavlov jumped in the World Cup, but he always missed the qualification. In summer 2010 Sografski made the breakthrough. In three summer Grand Prix competitions where he was at the start, he always reached the 2nd round and sensationally took 5th place in Courchevel . In the end, Sografski came in 33rd overall with 61 points. In the Continental Cup he achieved two second places in Almaty . In the end, this was enough for a 5th place overall. Even in winter, Sografski often made it into the points. Sografski won gold at the Junior World Championships in Otepää . Bogomil Pavlov finished 22nd and Dejan Funtarow 45.
