Burckhard Bergmann

Burckhard Bergmann (born February 11, 1943 in Sendenhorst ) is a German industrial manager. From 2001 to February 29, 2008, he was Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON Ruhrgas AG .

Life

Bergmann studied physics from 1962 to 1968 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the RWTH Aachen . In 1970 he became a Dr.-Ing. With a thesis on trends in electricity consumption in the chemical industry in Germany . PhD . After working at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (1958–1969) and at the Jülich GmbH nuclear research facility, today's Jülich Research Center , in 1972 he became head of liquefied natural gas procurement at the Ruhrgas AG gas group in Essen . In 1978 he became head of natural gas procurement.

In 1980 Bergmann became a member of the board of directors of Ruhrgas AG; 1996 Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. In June 2001 Bergmann became Chairman of the Board of Management of Ruhrgas AG; after the takeover by E.ON he became chairman of the board of E.ON Ruhrgas AG on June 30, 2004. Since January 2003 he has also been a member of the board of E.ON AG in Düsseldorf .

From 2000 to 2011 Bergmann was a member of the supervisory board of OAO Gazprom , Moscow (Russia). He was the only foreigner on the board of the Russian gas giant Gazprom. Bergmann is a member of the supervisory boards of Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG and Jaeger Akustik GmbH & Co.

Since 1996 he has been the deputy chairman of the Eastern Committee of German Business and spokesman for the Russia group. Since 2001 he has been involved in the presidium and board of directors of the Federal Association of German Gas and Water Industries for energy saving and new, environmentally friendly technologies. Bergmann has been a member of the executive committee of the Federation of German Industries since July 2001 . He has been a personal member of the Initiativkreis Ruhr since 2001 .

He has been a member of the KDStV Ripuaria Freiburg im Breisgau in the CV since 1962 .

Honors

In 2003 he received the Golden Medal of Honor of the State of Salzburg from then Governor Franz Schausberger . In 2004 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia by the then Prime Minister Peer Steinbrück for his "outstanding services to North Rhine-Westphalia and especially the Ruhr area" . In 2008 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
