Burgstall Oberspiesheim

The Burgstall Oberspiesheim is an abandoned Niederungsburg of the type of a ground floor residence west of the church in Oberspiesheim, a current district of the municipality of Kolitzheim in the Schweinfurt district in Bavaria .

Presumably the castle was built in the 12th century by the lords of Spiesheim, who appeared at the time. In 1140, Richolf and Heinrich von Spiezesheim are named as servants of Bishop Embricho von Würzburg . In 1275 the castle property was sold to the Ebrach monastery and then demolished and used as a quarry until the 19th century. Today the castle site is built over.
