Bururi is a province of Burundi whose capital is also called Bururi . The province is located in the southwest of the country.

In 2008, Bururi had a population of 528,897. Bururi is home to the Bururi Forest Nature Reserve , Rumonge Nature Reserve and Kigwena Nature Reserve .

On March 26, 2015, the new Rumonge Province was formed from parts of Bururi and Bujumbura Rural . Since then, Bururi has only consisted of the districts Bururi, Matana , Mugamba , Rutovu , Songa and Vyanda and no longer borders on Lake Tanganyika .
