Bystrez ( Ukrainian Бистрець ; Russian Быстрец , Polish Bystrzec ) is a Hutsul - village in the Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in the southeast of the "Black Mountains" with about 350 inhabitants (2001).

history

The village, founded in the 15th century and first mentioned in writing in 1893, was often visited by the Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko . In the east of the village there is a wooden church from 1872.

local community

Bystrez is the administrative center of the 11 km² district council of the same name in the north of Verkhovyna Rajon , to which the village of Dzembronja with about 240 inhabitants also belongs.

Geographical location

The village is located in the historic Pokutien region in the Carpathian Forest within the Carpathian National Park at an altitude of 753  m . The mountain streams Bystrez ( Бистрець ) and Dzembronja ( Дземброня ) flow through the municipality, both of which flow towards the Tschornyj Tscheremosch . The village is surrounded by numerous mountains, some of which are among the highest in Ukraine, such as the 2038  m high Brebeneskul , the 2001  m high Rebra and the 1863  m high Schpyzi (Ukrainian Шпиці ).

Bystrez is located 13 km west of the Verkhovyna district center and 120 km south of the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast center .
