Celine Vara (born October 4, 1984 in Saint-Aubin FR ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Life

Celine Vara grew up in Cortaillod . She is an Italian-Swiss citizen and comes from a simple background. She studied law at the University of Neuchâtel with a focus on health law . After working in a law firm in Neuchâtel and at the regional courts of Littoral and Val-de-Travers received approval as a 2011 Attorney and has since worked as an independent lawyer in Neuchatel.

She lives in Cressier NE and is the mother of one child.

politics

Vara was elected to the legislature of the municipality of Cortaillod in 2008. From 2012 to 2016 she was a member of the municipal council (executive) of Cortaillod and from 2017 to 2019 a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Neuchâtel . In the national parliamentary elections on October 20, 2019 , Vara was elected to the Council of States for the canton of Neuchâtel .

In 2005 she was a founding member and first president of the Young Greens of the canton of Neuchâtel. From 2016 to 2018 she was President of the Green Canton of Neuchâtel and since 2018 she has been the Vice President of Green Switzerland.
