Camilla Weitzel (born June 11, 2000 in Hamburg ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player . She is under contract with Dresdner SC .

Career

society

In 2013 Weitzel moved from her home in Landau in der Pfalz to Dresden , where she played for the VC Olympia Dresden . There she was one of the top performers of the team and, like her teammate Rica Maase , received double play rights for the 1st and 2nd German Volleyball Bundesliga in 2016 .

From 2014 Weitzel also played beach volleyball in the summer months. Together with Maike Henning , she became German U-17 champion in 2015 and, together with Meghan Barthel, German U-19 runner-up in 2017. After the 2016/17 season, Weitzel played with the idea of ending her career - due to the great stress caused by two junior national teams, various championships and beach volleyball - but ultimately decided against it. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, she trained with the Bundesliga team of Dresdner SC . In November 2017 Weitzel joined the Bundesliga squad due to an injury to Ivana Mrdak and from then on played her first games in the Bundesliga and the CEV Cup.

In mid-July 2018, Dresdner SC announced that Weitzel - who is due to take her Abitur in 2019 - has signed a three-year contract until 2021. She is considered Germany's greatest talent in her position.

National team

Weitzel has already played for various German junior national teams. She was in the squad for the U-19 / U-20 European volleyball championship 2016, the U-18 / U-19 European volleyball championship 2017, the qualifying games for the U-20 / U-21 volleyball world championship and U -19 / U-20 European Volleyball Championship 2018. Weitzel has played in the German national team since 2019 .
