course

The river rises at around 2040  m slm on the Cimone di Cortechiuso just inside the municipality of Cursolo-Orasso . It initially flows as Il Fiume to the northeast and reaches the bottom of the valley below the Cima Fornoletti . From here it forms the municipal boundary to Malesco , while it passes several alpine settlements in its wooded Kerbtal valley. In the Finero faction, it first curves to the south-east, then flows in several curves, mainly to the east. It flows right through Cursolo-Orasso for a short time before marking the border with Gurro . From the right it takes on the Rio di Calagno , from where it is called Cannobino.

The Cannobino passes the villages of Cussio and Ossola above the valley and turns south. It briefly forms the municipal boundary to Cavaglio-Spoccia , then between this and Falmenta . This is followed by the villages of Spoccia and Falmenta, which are situated on the hillside , where the Rio Falmenta joins the river from the right . It flows again to the east past Lunecco , Nivetta , Socraggio , Gurrone and Cavaglio San Donnino. At the confluence of the Rio di Cavaglio, it crosses the border with Cannobio and flows around the Traffiume district in an arc to the south .

The Cannobino passes the town center in the west and north and finally flows into Lake Maggiore at 193  m slm .
