The Space Launch Complex 46 ( SLC-46 ; formerly Launch Complex 46 , LC-46) is a rocket launch site operated by Space Florida on the grounds of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Merritt Island , Cape Canaveral in Florida , USA .
SLC-46 was built in 1984 and by the US Navy to test the Trident - ICBM used. After the end of the Trident test program, the complex was rebuilt in the late 1990s and then used to launch the Athena rocket.
The launch pad is used today for the Minotaur . It was also planned to use it for the Kleinstrakete Vector-R .
