Carbetamide is a chemical compound from the group of carbamates . The compound was introduced as a herbicide by Rhône-Poulenc in 1966 .

Extraction and presentation

Carbetamide can be produced by the condensation of phenyl isocyanate with N -ethyl lactamide .

use

Carbetamide is a selective herbicide which is used to control weeds in clover , rape , sunflower and vegetable growing. In Switzerland, plant protection products containing carbetamide were permitted for the cultivation of chicory . The approval of another preparation used in the cultivation of peas and rapeseed has been withdrawn.

In Germany and Austria there are approved plant protection products with this active ingredient, but not in Switzerland.
