Carbocromene is a chemical compound from the group of coumarins and chromenes . It is a derivative of visnadine and its main metabolite is carbocromenic acid .

Extraction and presentation

Carbocromen can be obtained by reacting 3β-diethylaminoethyl-4-methyl-7-hydroxycoumarin chlorohydrate with ethyl bromoacetate in methyl ethyl ketone with potassium carbonate .

pharmacology

The bioavailability is 30–50%, the half-life is one to one and a half hours, 50–70% is excreted in the stool and 30–50% in the urine .

use

Carbocromen, in the form of its hydrochloride, is used as a coronary dilator for the treatment of mild forms of angina pectoris and was patented as a coronary dilator by Cassella between 1963 and 1966 . It no longer plays a therapeutic role today, since the effects cannot be used therapeutically or are even harmful.
