Carl Becker (military painter)

Carl Becker (born January 29, 1862 in Karlsruhe , † before 1935 in Gengenbach ) was a German portrait and genre painter and illustrator for military art .

Life

Becker studied painting under Karl Heinrich Hoff the Elder at the Grand Ducal Baden Art School in Karlsruhe . He initially worked as a military painter in Berlin and from 1899 in Munich . In 1894 he created the Panorama Storming of Nuits together with Karl Kehr (1866–1919) and Friedrich Kallmorgen . From 1919 he lived in Gengenbach near Offenburg in Baden. Becker worked for the Illustrirten Zeitung in Leipzig .
