Carl Gotthard Wilhelm Ernst von Bistram (born October 10, 1777 in Sussey ( Kurland ), † May 1, 1841 in Mitau ) was a Baltic baron , lawyer, state politician, chancellor at the Courland Higher Court as well as the Kurland Consistorial President .

Origin and family

Carl vB came from the Courland line of the Baltic noble family von Bistram . His father was Leonard Karl von Bistram († 1792), Lord of Baltensee in the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia , who was married to Agnesa Elisabeth von Plater a.dH Baltensee († 1792). In 1804 Carl married the Baroness Apollonia von Engelhardt , her father was also Oberrat von Selburg .

Life

Carl Gotthard v. B. studied from 1791 jurisprudence at the Academia Petrina in Jelgava, 1794, he continued his studies at the Alma Mater Lipsiensis and 1796 at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen away. After completing his university studies, he became an assessor at the Hauptmannsgericht in Goldingen in 1798 . He then became an assessor at the chief captain's court in Tuckum in 1803 . From 1803 to 1807 he was captain in Friedrichstadt , then until 1828 Selburg captain in Jakobstadt. 1828 he became chancellor of the Courland High Court in Mitau and from 1833 he was president of the Courland Consistory.
