Carl Roesner (born June 19, 1804 in Vienna ; † July 13, 1869 in Steyr ) was an Austrian architect.

Life

Carl Roesner completed his studies in Vienna and Rome. From 1826 Roesner was proofreader at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and from 1835 professor. He was close to Klemens Maria Hofbauer 's circle of romantics and devoted himself intensively to sacred art . As an architect and professor, he made a major contribution to architecture in the Romantic era. Among his students at the Academy of Fine Arts were the architects Max Fleischer , Richard Jordan and Wilhelm Stiassny . In addition to his work at the academy, Roesner was deputy editor of the “ Allgemeine Bauzeitung ”. Erected during the time of the monarchy, most of its most important buildings are now outside Austria.

Recognitions

In 1894 the Roesnergasse in Vienna- Meidling was named after him, which is located right next to the Meidlinger parish church he created.
