Carl von Dieskau , currently mostly von Dießkau or Dießkaw , (* 1601 or 1596 in Knauthain ; † October 2 or October 10, 1667 in Zschepplin ) was a war commissioner from the Electoral Saxony and manor owner . He owned the manors Zschepplin, Knauthain, Kleinzschocher , Lochau and Trebsen .

Life

Carl came from the Knauthain line of the Saxon noble family von Dieskau . From 1609 he studied at the University of Leipzig with Christian Lange and later at the University of Jena with Theodor Moestel . After a few years at the University of Bourges and working in the royal guard in Paris , Carl von Dieskau returned home to take over the Knauthain family estate from 1626.

In 1633 Carl von Dieskau was appointed war commissioner for Elector Johann Georg I of Saxony in the Leipzig district . As such, he was forced to flee from the flat country to the city of Leipzig from the Swedes who plundered Saxony in the Thirty Years' War . Nevertheless, he was captured in 1642 and was only able to return to Knauthain towards the end of the war.

As Der Wendende he was a member of the Fruitful Society .

On July 20, 1664 he constituted a feudal quantum for his family and his six sons. He died three years later and his sons divided into their father's estates by inheritance settlement on November 10, 1675 as follows: Otto took over Kleinzschocher, Hans Trebsen, Heinrich Knauthain, Carl Lochau, Geißler Zschepplin and Gebhard Gruna.
