Carlo Carlini

Carlo Carlini (born February 20, 1920 in Rome ) is / was an Italian cameraman .

Live and act

Carlini learned his trade from 1936 when he first worked as a camera assistant and then as a simple cameraman under the guidance of chief cameraman Otello Martelli . Shortly after the Second World War , he can be proven as an executive cameraman in the well-known productions Count Cagliostro and The Walls of Malapaga . Working as head cameraman since 1949, Carlini has been behind the camera in at least 100 films and has collaborated with a wide range of directors, including a few well-known such as Federico Fellini , Roberto Rossellini ( Fear , The False General , It Was Night In Rome ) andLuigi Comencini ( The way back , come back, little one! ).

In the Fellini classics The Idlers (1953) and La Strada - The Song of the Road (1954) Carlinis met again with his instructor Martelli. For his camera work on the historical drama Im Ketten zum Schafott, set in Venice in the 16th century, Carlo Carlini received the nomination for the Silver Ribbon in 1964 . The majority of Carlini's work, however, is not very ambitious entertainment, staged by veterans like Duccio Tessari , Stefano Vanzina , Marcello Baldi , Umberto Lenzi and Domenico Paolella . The native Roman proved to be cross-genre with his work and was behind the camera in romances, soft plots, costume and adventure films, as well as antique and melodramas, agent strips, war films and some spaghetti westerns. In 1988 Carlo Carlini disappeared from the public eye.
