Career
Fluminense Rio de Janeiro
The attacking midfielder began his career as a professional football player with Fluminense in his hometown.
FC Porto
At the beginning of 2004, José Mourinho brought him to FC Porto , and in May of the same year he won the Champions League with his new club . In the final in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen , he scored one goal. Another highlight of his still young career was the 2004 World Cup in Yokohama , in which Porto beat the Colombian club Once Caldas 8: 7 on penalties . The Brazilian converted his attempt after being substituted on in the 70th minute.
Corinthians São Paulo
In January 2005 Carlos Alberto moved to Corinthians São Paulo for a transfer fee of 10 million euros , where he became Brazilian champion. After a poor season for his club and a dispute with his coach Emerson Leão , Carlos Alberto was loaned to his hometown club Fluminense in January 2007 .
Werder Bremen and rental shops
For the 2007/08 season Carlos Alberto moved to Werder Bremen . He received a contract until 2011. The total fee was EUR 7.8 million. Up to this point, it was the most expensive transfer in the club's history. After health problems and a lack of discipline, the club signed a loan deal with the Brazilian champions FC São Paulo in January 2008, which was limited to six months .
In April 2008, Carlos Alberto was retired from São Paulo due to undisciplined behavior. The club continued to pay the salary, but Carlos Alberto was excluded from the game and training operations.
In May 2008 it was awarded again within Brazil, this time to Botafogo FR . He left the club, despite a loan agreement until June 2009, due to outstanding salary payments in November 2008. Then he was loaned to the Brazilian second division club CR Vasco da Gama in January 2009 . There the midfielder received a contract until the summer and was named team captain right after his arrival. In July, the loan was extended until the end of the 2009/2010 season.
For Bremen he only made two Bundesliga appearances as a substitute, as well as a game in the DFB-Pokal , an appearance in the Champions League qualification and a brief assignment in a Champions League group game.
CR Vasco da Gama
After the loan business ended, Carlos Alberto was finally sold to CR Vasco da Gama .
In February 2011, Carlos Alberto was awarded to Grêmio Porto Alegre until the end of the year . However, he returned after half a year. Then he was awarded again in June 2011, this time to league rivals EC Bahia , where he was again a regular.
Further stations
In 2014 he was initially signed by Goiás EC , but left the club after a few games and was hired again at Botafogo, where he played the rest of the season. In Rio he remained in 13 league appearances without scoring and rose to the end of the season in the second division .
After a move to al-Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates failed, Carlos Alberto played for newly promoted Figueirense FC since 2015 . In 2016 Alberto moved to Athletico Paranaense , where he only stayed for half a year. This was followed by a year without a club, before he joined Boavista Sport Club in November 2018 .
