Carlos Alberto Fernandes (born December 18, 1979 in Kinshasa , Zaïre ) is an Angolan - Portuguese football goalkeeper . He has been playing for UD Vilafranquense in the third Portuguese division, the Campeonato Nacional de Seniores , since mid-2017 .

Career

Carlos came to Portugal at a young age. He began his career with his hometown club UD Vilafranquense in the third Portuguese division, the Segunda Divisão . In 2001, the then second division club SC Campomaiorense signed him . There he could not prevail and moved to Amora FC in the Segunda Divisão. In 2003 he got a new chance in the Segunda League at FC Felgueiras . He became a regular and was signed by first division team Boavista Porto in summer 2004 . In early 2016, he left Portugal and joined the Romanian record champions Steaua Bucharest . There he won his first title with the championship in 2006 . During the first half of the 2006/07 season he lost his place to his rival Cornel Cernea . In the summer of 2007 he returned to Boavista.

In early 2008, the Iranian club Foolad FC signed him. In mid-2009, Rio Ave FC brought him back to Portugal. A year later he moved to Bucaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig . In the first half of the 2010/11 season he was first number one in goal. At the beginning of 2011 he lost his place to the newly signed Pavel Londak . After relegation Carlos stayed with Bucaspor, but did not get a chance. In the summer of 2012 he returned to Portugal, where he was hired by the second division CD Feirense . A year later he joined league rival Moreirense FC , with whom he achieved promotion in 2014 . Since mid-2015 he has played for Clube Recreativo da Caála in Angola. He stayed there until the end of the 2016 season. He then returned to Europe, where he joined his hometown club UD Vilafranquense in the summer of 2017.

He was part of the Angolan national team for the 2010 African Cup in his own country.
