Carlos Alfredo Cabezas Mendoza

Carlos Alfredo Cabezas Mendoza (born January 26, 1966 in Niquitao , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Punto Fijo .

Life

Carlos Alfredo Cabezas Mendoza studied at the seminary in Caracas and at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. At the Pontifical University of the Salesians he completed a special course in youth pastoral care and catechetics. He also holds a degree in political science from the Universidad Valle del Momboy in Valera . On June 10, 1990 in Rome he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Trujillo through Pope John Paul II .

In addition to various tasks in parish pastoral care, he was a youth chaplain and professor at the Institute for Religious Studies and at the Trujillo Seminary. He was diocesan commissioner for pastoral care and episcopal vicar for the clergy . Since 2011 he has been pastor in Boconó .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Punto Fijo on June 4, 2016 . He was ordained bishop on August 6th of the same year by the Bishop of Trujillo, Cástor Oswaldo Azuaje Pérez OCD . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Coro , Roberto Lückert León , and the Bishop of Barinas , José Luis Azuaje Ayala . The inauguration in the diocese of Punto Fijo took place on August 14, 2016.
