Casey Michael McGehee (born October 12, 1982 in Santa Cruz County , California ) is an American baseball player . He last played with the Yomiuri Giants on the position of third baseman . Prior to that he played for the Chicago Cubs , Milwaukee Brewers , Pittsburgh Pirates , New York Yankees , Miami Marlins , San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball .

Life

McGehee graduated from Soquel High School in Soquel , California , and then went to Fresno State University .

Baseball career

Chicago Cubs

McGehee was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2003 and played his first game in Major League Baseball on September 2, 2008 .

Milwaukee Brewers

2009

On March 31, 2009 it was announced that McGehee was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers . Due to various injuries to infield players, McGehee was first used in third base and later on in second base as well. Due to several weaker games of his teammates, he was regularly used at third base. On June 14, 2009 he managed his first home run . Only a short time later, on June 29, 2009, he hit the first Grand Slam of his career. On July 4, he achieved his best performance so far in the game against the Chicago Cubs. He got four hits and five RBIs . Due to his solid performance in the 2009 season, he was from the 2010 season in the Brewers team number 1 in the position of third baseman.

2010

McGehee was named the Brewers' Most Valuable Player. He prevailed against second baseman Rickie Weeks and outfielder Corey Hart . He managed a batting average of .285 and hit 23 home runs and led his team with 104 RBIs in 157 games. On August 12, he set a team record for successive hits . He got nine hits in two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks .

2011

In 2011 his batting average was .223 and on the one hand he managed 13 home runs , three of them on August 3rd against pitcher Edwin Jackson of the St. Louis Cardinals , on the other hand he was also the third baseman with the most errors , namely 20 , throughout the NL .

Pittsburgh Pirates

On December 12, 2011, the Milwaukee Brewers signed Aramis Ramírez and shortly thereafter exchanged McGehee for José Veras and McGehee played from then on for the Pittsburgh Pirates .

New York Yankees

On July 31, 2012, McGehee joined the New York Yankees . The Yankees strengthened themselves on the position of third baseman , as the regular player for this position Alex Rodriguez was out due to an injury for a long time.

Tōhoku Rakuten Golden Eagles

In December 2012, he signed a contract with the Japanese club Tōhoku Rakuten Golden Eagles , which was endowed with a guaranteed salary of at least 1.5 million US dollars. In 2013 he won the 2013 Nippon Series , the Japanese baseball championship, with the team .

Return to the MLB

In December 2013, just before the start of the 2014 season , McGehee returned to Major League Baseball and subsequently joined the Miami Marlins . There he acted in the position of third baseman and ended the 2014 season in Miami. In December 2014 he was transferred to the San Francisco Giants . After being sent to the minor leagues several times in the following season in 2015 , he was released from his contract in July 2015. Two days later, McGehee returned to Miami and rejoined the Miami Marlins based there. After the end of the 2015 season he was available as a free agent and chose the Detroit Tigers as his future employer. As a result, the third baseman commuted between the minor leagues and the MLB. After the end of the 2016 season , he became available again as a free agent.

Yomiuri Giants

In December 2016, he signed a one-year contract with the Yomiuri Giants with a club-side option for an additional year.
