Catherine Marcelle Reitman (born April 28, 1981 in Los Angeles , USA ) is a Canadian - American actress , producer and screenwriter . She produces the CBC comedy series Workin 'Moms and plays one of the leading roles .

Life

Reitman was born in Los Angeles as the daughter of the French-Canadian actress Geneviève Robert and the Canadian director Ivan Reitman . She studied acting at the University of Southern California . Reitman has a sister, Carolin Reitman, and a brother, the film director Jason Reitman . In 2009 she married the actor Philip Sternberg, with whom she now has two children.

Career

From 2011 to 2013 Reitman published the film review web show Breakin 'It Down with Catherine Reitman on YouTube .

She starred in the films The First Time (2007) and Best Man Wanted! (2009) and has had roles in the television series How I Met Your Mother , Weeds, and Black-ish .

Together with her husband Philip Sternberg, she founded the production company Wolf & Rabbit Entertainment ULC in 2016, the executive production company of the CBC sitcom Workin 'Moms. Reitman came up with the idea for the series during her own pregnancy. She was bothered by the fact that the mothers depicted on TV were either perfect or had domestic problems. In her opinion, problems relating to the reconciliation of work and family were not shown sufficiently. Reitman is the producer and writer on the series and stars alongside her husband Sternberg. She also directed several episodes.
