action

Ryden Malby is a young college graduate with a solid plan: she's dying to get the job as an assistant editor at the famous book publisher Happerman & Browning in Los Angeles. She is already renting an apartment with great conviction. Her best friend Adam Davies drives Ryden to the interview, which is very brief. She also meets Jessica Bard, her archenemy since 3rd grade, who comes with the best recommendations and ultimately gets this job.

Disappointed, Ryden moves back to her parents. Despite an intensive job search, she continues to only receive rejections. Her father then said that he wanted to start his own business in the belt buckle business and offered her the position of deputy manager, which she refused.

In conversation with the Brazilian neighbor David Santiago, who shoots commercials and to whom she also gets closer physically, Ryden offers Ryden a job as a production assistant. On her first day at work, however, David quits, so that she too is unemployed again. Both spend the evening on the beach, where Ryden forgets the invitation from Adam, who has his first performance as a musician that evening. Adam, who feels more for Ryden, then waits for her in front of her parents' house, confesses his love and, deeply disappointed, announces the friendship.

Over the next few days, Ryden tries desperately to reach Adam, but to no avail. Quite unexpectedly, she then receives a call from Happerman & Browning, who offer her the job because Jessica has been fired. Overjoyed, she takes up the job. After Adam tells her that he will be studying law in New York and she learns from David that he is moving back to Brazil because there are more important things in life than his job, she becomes pensive.

After a while she makes the decision to fight for Adam. She packs her bags, visits him and confesses her love to him. In the final shot, they kiss.

criticism

“A warm-hearted comedy based on a tried and tested model, in which the young star Alexis Bledel , successful as one of the Gilmore Girls for a long time , is the sympathetic heroine who is annoyed by a chaotic, yet nice family, but of course also loved. Michael Keaton also plays in the somewhat old-fashioned production by comedy specialist Ivan Reitman . Good-natured feel-good movie. "

“If you are over 15 years of age, then you should have outgrown the target group of the film. (Dream) Job Wanted is a naive coming-of-age film for the younger generation that suffers from its unsympathetic characters, the weak leading actress and, above all, the clichéd predictability. "

- Moviemaze.de

“A college graduate dreams of a position as a lecturer that is initially snatched from her by a competitor. Then she stays with their quirky, warm-hearted family. From the solidly developed story about the needs of postgraduate academics, the staging is unable to strike any sparks. The listlessly turned down film shows good actors, but on top of that it annoys with its reactionary final volte. "
