Catz (1801 still with the spelling Cats ) is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Carentan-les-Marais with 121 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Manche department in the region of Normandy .
The municipality of Catz was incorporated into Carentan-les-Marais on January 1, 2019 with four other municipalities; it belonged to the arrondissement of Saint-Lô and the canton of Carentan .
geography
Catz is located in the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park between the cities of Carentan and Bayeux , immediately south of the confluence that the Vire and Taute rivers form when they enter the English Channel . The landscape between Catz and the coast is almost flat at sea level and consists of salt marshes and polders . Further south, the terrain gradually rises to over 20 meters. The highest point in the 2.78 km² municipal area is a 32 meter high inconspicuous hill. The Commune déléguée Catz includes the districts of Banville, le Rocher, la Fourchette, la Sagerie, la Chevalerie, la Houblonnière, la Piotterie, le Telan, Mondzer and Capel Neighboring villages of Catz are Brévands in the north, Carentan in the east and south and Saint-Hilaire -Petitville to the west.
