Cedrim is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Sever do Vouga . It has 839 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
history
Finds prove a settlement since the Castro culture , and the Romans also settled here. Today's place, which was mentioned in a deed of purchase from a local monastery in 1017 , already existed as an independent municipality in 1050 , as Cedarim and Zedarim . In 1284 the place was documented as Cedari , in 1747 as Sedrim , and since 1768 it has had the current name.
In the church registers of the king D.Dinis the Monastery of Cendrim was in 1320 no longer performed, and only in 1675 the place reappeared with its own church listed on. Cedrim had since 1630 again for a while a separate municipality before it until 1900 again became an independent municipality in the county of Sever do Vouga, to which the place has always belonged.
