The Chée is a river in France that runs in the Grand Est region . It rises in the Barrois countryside , near Marat la Grande , in the municipality of Les Hauts-de-Chée . The Chée generally drains in a south-westerly direction and reaches the Saulx valley at Alliancelles , where the Canal de la Marne au Rhin also runs. Here it approaches the Ornain River , which runs parallel, to within a few meters , but then swings again to the west and only flows into the Saulx as a right tributary after 65 kilometers in the municipality of Vitry-en-Perthois . On its way, the river crosses the Meuse and Marne departments .
