The Saulx is a river in France that runs in the Grand Est region . It rises in the municipality of Germay , and drains initially in a northerly direction, later in a westerly direction. After 115 kilometers, the river flows into the Marne at Vitry-le-François as a right tributary . On its way the Saulx crosses the Haute-Marne , Meuse , and Marne departments .

Between Contrisson and its mouth, the Canal de la Marne au Rhin runs parallel to the river. The river is used to supply the canal with water.
