The Champions League of Darts 2019 was an invitation-only tournament in darts and was held for the fourth time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from October 19-20 . The tournament was held for the first time in the Morningside Arena . The new Champions League should not be confused with the similar sounding Championship League Darts, which was organized by the PDC from 2008 to 2013.
The Dutchman Michael van Gerwen secured the victory with an 11:10 victory over the Scot Peter Wright . With this van Gerwen was able to win every current major event of the PDC broadcast on TV at least once.
format
The top 8 of the PDC Order of Merit took part in the tournament, which was played over a weekend, at the time after the World Matchplay of the same year. In two groups of four, each player competed first against each other from his group. The two group winners then met in the semifinals against the runners-up in the other group. The two winners of the semi-finals then played the overall winner of the tournament in the final.
All games were played in the best of legs mode. The group games took place in the mode best of 19 legs , in the semi-finals and the finals best of 21 legs was played.
Prize money
The £ 250,000 in prize money to be played in the Champions League of Darts was divided among the eight participants as follows:

Semi-finalists | (2) | £ 25,000 |
Group third | (2) | £ 15,000 |

Since this is an invitation tournament, the prize money earned has no influence on the Order of Merit .
