Changnyeong County ( Korean : 창녕군 , Changnyeong-gun ) is located in Gyeongsangnam-do Province . The administrative headquarters are located in Changnyeong-eup City. The district had an area of 533 km² and a population of 65,120 inhabitants in 2019.
In the early Three Kingdoms period , Changnyeong was the seat of Bihwa Gaya , a member of the Gaya Confederation that was later conquered by Silla .
The Nakdonggang River flows through the district. The Upo Wetland, a major ecological resource and tourist attraction, occupies part of the river basin.
